The Cape Breton Partnership is pleased to present a free, in-person Film Industry Orientation course on Thursday, April 30, 2026, delivered by the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) Local 849.
This one-day interactive session will take place at the Nova Scotia Community College Sydney Waterfront Campus and will include a film industry networking opportunity, giving participants the chance to connect directly with local professionals.
Delivered live and in person, the course will be led by experienced industry instructors Olivia King and Jake Ivany with opportunities for questions and discussion throughout the day.

The regular $25.00 registration fee for this course is waived thanks to the generous contribution of private and public sector Investors of the Cape Breton Partnership.
Please note that space is limited for this course with 60 seats available, and while lunch is not provided, the campus is located within a short walk of several dining options.
This offering of the Film Industry Orientation Course is being offered thanks to the Cape Breton Partnership and is , a part of the Cape Breton Futures in Film Certification, working with industry and training partners to grow a skilled, local workforce ready to support the Island’s expanding film sector.
The Cape Breton Futures in Film Certification brings together a series of training opportunities designed to introduce participants to the industry, build practical skills, and connect them to real opportunities on set while receiving practical training certification.
