In 2018–2019, the Cape Breton Partnership reaffirmed its commitment to fostering sustainable economic growth and community prosperity across Unama’ki — Cape Breton. As the Island’s private-sector led economic development organization, the Cape Breton Partnership continued to promote the Island as a desirable place to live, work, and invest; cultivate a culture of creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship; and connect businesses and entrepreneurs with the supports and resources they need to succeed.
Over the year, significant progress was made: municipalities and First Nation communities came together under a unified Regional Enterprise Network (REN) model; new labour-market and immigration programs were expanded to help meet workforce needs; entrepreneurship supports and export development services were strengthened; and initiatives such as the Creative Island Innovation District and an Innovation Hub at Cape Breton University laid the groundwork for long-term innovation and growth. This Year in Review documents these efforts and outcomes, reflecting a shared commitment to transforming Cape Breton — Unama’ki into a vibrant, inclusive, and resilient economy for generations to come.
