Reimagine. Rebuild. Revive. Cape Breton Partnership launches local infrastructure-focused campaignJuly 16, 2021

Cape Breton Island, N.S. – As a number of major public infrastructure projects get underway in Cape Breton, the Cape Breton Partnership is proud to be launching the Building Tomorrow campaign.

Developed in collaboration with partners at the Nova Scotia Department of Labour and Advanced Education, Nova Scotia Construction Sector Council, and more, the campaign aims to recognize, celebrate, and inform local infrastructure developments on the Island. Ongoing and upcoming major public projects include the NSCC Marconi Campus relocation, expansions of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, New Waterford Community Hub, Northside Health Complex, and Glace Bay Hospital.

“The Province of Nova Scotia is investing over a billion dollars in our Island over the next several years through these projects, with an unprecedented opportunity for lasting impact and benefit for our business community and residents,” says Carla Arsenault, President & CEO of the Cape Breton Partnership. “Hundreds of Cape Bretoners will be able to build their careers due to these projects, kicking off a new era of development capabilities for the Island. An entirely new generation of workers in the construction sector will become trained and receive valuable experiences and skills from these projects, becoming a catalyst for the revitalization of our workforce and our communities across Unama’ki – Cape Breton.”

The campaign will feature the website with a number of resources focused on sharing opportunities for work and training in the construction industry, supplier and business opportunities, as well as general information and updates on the progress.  The campaign was developed by local agency Anchored Ideas.

“The local infrastructure being developed and improved on the Island will be great assets to the community, and that’s only a fraction of the benefits these projects will offer,” says Jeremy Martell, Community Engagement Manager for the Cape Breton Partnership. “Whether you currently work in the construction industry or are looking to start your career; whether you are a large business or a small one, these projects have opportunities available to all areas of Unama’ki – Cape Breton.”

As the campaign continues to roll out, additional activities and events will be held both online and in-person, including community engagement sessions, work and training information workshops, and information sessions for the local business community.
