The Cape Breton Partnership’s Investor Summit annually brings together over 140 business, community and government leaders from across Nova Scotia. Summit attendees will have the opportunity to network, collaborate, and discuss issues facing the local economy, and be able to provide input on building a strong economic future for Unama’ki – Cape Breton.

Emcee: Michelle Samson, Storied Places Media

A resident of Richmond County, Michelle Samson is a broadcaster turned economic developer who found her calling in combining the two. Her proudly Cape Breton-based business, Storied Places Media, specializes in helping communities tell their stories through the intimate and engaging medium of podcasting. Michelle is an award-winning podcast creator, a certified economic developer, and a graduate of the University of Waterloo’s economic development master’s program.

Morning Energizer: Houston Barnaby, Indigenous Treaty Partners

Mi’kmaw from Listuguj, QC, Houston Barnaby is an Indigenous Rights lawyer who has represented the Assembly of Nova Scotia Mi’kmaq Chiefs in areas of Governance and has gained industry knowledge and experience negotiating Benefit Agreements with proponents in the Province during that time. Houston is also a Board member of the Nova Scotia Community College Foundation, whose mission is dedicated to helping students in financial need and improving access to education. Growing up in a First Nation community, Houston has seen firsthand the importance of all levels of government coming together to find a solution that respects the inherent right of the First Nations to govern themselves and the needs of surrounding communities. Houston is passionate about bridging the gap between stakeholders and rightsholders for a stronger Canada, together.

Keynote: Eddie LeMoine

Eddie LeMoine is a renowned Canadian author, speaker, and trainer with over four decades of extensive experience in the business world. Eddie is highly respected in the industry for his expertise in various areas, such as changing demographics, diversity and enhancing performance and productivity. In recognition of his remarkable influence on Canadian business leaders, Eddie was awarded the TEC Canada Speaker of the Year in 2022. He is widely known for his exceptional ability to inspire and motivate people to make lasting changes. Eddie’s unique talent lies in connecting personal growth with business success, empowering individuals to unlock their full potential. Drawing from his own experiences, he delivers relatable and inspiring talks on diverse topics such as leadership, employee engagement, and the psychology of success.
