Content Guidelines

Please ensure that the photos submitted follow the guidelines below.

  • No explicit content, including nudity or otherwise inappropriate material.
  • Photos should be respectful in their representation of all individuals and cultures.
  • Selfies are not encouraged.
  • Only submit photos that include individuals who have given their explicit consent to be photographed and featured.
  • Ensure the content aligns with the gallery’s purpose of celebrating diversity and fostering inclusivity.

Deadline: The deadline for submission is Monday, March 31, at 12pm.

Photos submitted must meet the following requirements:

  • File type: JPEG, PNG or PDF
  • Resolution:
    • 300 DPI (Dots Per Inch), 3000 x 4000 pixels or higher
    • For photos taken with cell phones, this would likely be a high-resolution setting for the camera, typically the default or “high quality” mode. See below for more information.
  • Size: Aim for a file size of 3MB or larger
  • Orientation: Landscape (horizontal) to fit the display layout.

Important: When uploading, select “actual size” or “high resolution”. Do not choose “space saving” or “low quality” as this will reduce the pixels and resolution.

For Android Users:

  1. Open Camera App:
    • Open your camera app as usual.
  2. Adjust Resolution:
    • Open the settings (usually a gear or three dots in the top corner).
    • Look for an option like “Picture Size” or “Resolution.”
    • Select the highest resolution (usually labeled as “Fine” or “High”).
  3. Aspect Ratio:
    • Choose 4:3 for the best balance between image size and quality (this works well for most printing sizes).

For iPhone Users:

  1. Open Camera App:
    • Open your camera app as usual.
  2. Check Resolution Settings:
    • iPhones automatically adjust resolution for best quality, but you can double-check in the Settings app.
    • Go to Settings > Camera and make sure you have “High Efficiency” selected under “Formats” for the highest resolution.
  3. Set Aspect Ratio:
    • iPhones default to a 4:3 aspect ratio for photos, which is perfect for high-quality images.
    • If you want to take wider images, you can choose “Square” or “Pano” in the Camera app options.

  • Ensure your photo is clear and well-lit.
  • Clean your camera or phone lens.
  • Choose a subject that’s meaningful to you.
  • Use natural lighting when possible.
  • Frame your shot and avoid clutter in the picture.
  • Make sure your finger or other objects aren’t blocking the shot.
  • Hold your camera steady and avoid zooming in too much to retain the highest quality.
  • Review your photo and write-up before submitting.
