Unama’ki – Cape Breton, NS – The Cape Breton Partnership, the Municipality of the County of Victoria, and Destination Cape Breton are pleased to present a free public screening of the new docuseries Forest Guide on Tuesday, August 26th from 7 – 8:30 p.m. at the Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Site in Baddeck.
This free community event will feature the first two episodes of the Bell Fibe TV1 series filmed in Victoria County, showcasing the natural beauty of Unama’ki – Cape Breton through the eyes of local forest guides.
Forest Guide is a lighthearted and immersive series that blends thoughtful documentary storytelling with the calming experience of forest bathing. Each episode introduces viewers to a new trail and guide, offering a personal and meaningful connection to Victoria County’s natural spaces.
“At its core, this series is about connecting with our best selves and our most natural and honest experiences,” said John Wimberly, Documentary Filmmaker and Producer of Forest Guide. “And there’s probably no better place on Earth to do that than Cape Breton Island.”
The production was made possible with local support from the Municipality of the County of Victoria, Destination Cape Breton and the Cape Breton Partnership.
“Having Forest Guide filmed right here in Victoria County is such an incredible milestone for the Island,” said Bill Culp, Creative Economy Development Officer and Film Industry Liaison with the Cape Breton Partnership. “It’s not only a testament to the beauty and uniqueness of this area but also a huge opportunity to highlight local talent and showcase the potential for film production here on our beautiful Island.”
As the pace of television and daily life continues to accelerate, Forest Guide invites audiences to slow down and reconnect. “This offers a contrast, because what’s refreshing now is slowing down and connecting with the rhythms of the natural world, and that’s what Forest Guide is all about,” added Wimberly.
Admission to the screening is free and light refreshments will be available, though advanced registration is required. To register, please register here.
Forest Guide is now available to stream on Bell Fibe TV1. To learn more, or to suggest new trails and guides for future seasons, visit www.forest-guide.com.
