2025 Economic Impact Awards

Do you know a business or individual who has made a significant impact on the Unama’ki – Cape Breton economy over the past year through new investments, innovation, or other economic activity? Nominate them for a Cape Breton Partnership Economic Impact Award!

The Economic Impact Awards annually recognize individuals and organizations from multiple industries for their outstanding contributions to the economy. Award recipients will be chosen based on their significant contribution to the Unama’ki – Cape Breton economy through innovation, entrepreneurship, and new investments. The selection committee’s decision will also take into consideration the nominees’ commitment to the region and the work they have accomplished that has had a positive impact on the economy over the past year.

Though the selection committee cannot recognize every nominee with an award, we appreciate all nominations made and the impact all nominees have made on the Island’s economy and their communities.

Recipients of the 2025 Economic Impact Awards will be announced in advance of the Cape Breton Partnership’s annual Investor Summit on October 23rd at the Inverary Resort on Baddeck Bay and will be presented live during the Gala Dinner. Tickets for the 2025 Investor Summit are now on sale!

Nominees for the Economic Impact Award will be evaluated based on their outstanding contributions to the economic vitality and long-term prosperity of Unama’ki – Cape Breton over the past year. This recognition celebrates businesses, organizations, or individuals who demonstrate exceptional leadership, strategic initiative, and a strong commitment to the region’s development.

Nominees will be assessed on the following key criteria:

  • Economic Impact: Demonstrated positive effect on the local economy through job creation, business growth, regional spending, export development, or expansion into new markets.

  • Innovation: Evidence of creative approaches, new products or services, process improvements, or disruptive solutions that have advanced the nominee’s sector or enhanced regional competitiveness.

  • Investment: Significant capital or strategic investment into the Unama’ki – Cape Breton region, including infrastructure, workforce development, community partnerships, or sustainability initiatives.

  • Entrepreneurial Leadership: Strong leadership in navigating challenges, identifying opportunities, and driving results. This includes mentoring, collaboration, and inspiring others within the business or community ecosystem.

  • Regional Commitment: A demonstrated dedication to the social, cultural, and economic well-being of Unama’ki – Cape Breton, with ongoing involvement in local initiatives, support for community organizations, or contributions to regional development goals.

Nomination submissions should clearly outline how the nominee embodies these criteria. Please include specific examples, measurable outcomes, and relevant supporting information that highlight the nominee’s achievements over the past year.
