Safety First in Cape Breton Symposium - May 8, 2015


The Cape Breton Partnershipin collaboration with the Workers' Compensation Board, the Nova Scotia Department of Labour and Advanced Education and the North American Occupational Safety and Health Week, is hosting the third annual Safety First in Cape Breton Symposium on Friday, May 8, 2015 at NSCC Marconi Campus in Sydney. 

 

The Safety First in Cape Breton Symposium agenda will include keynote presentations from internationally recognized Business Accelerator, Culture Change Expert, Respect & Safety Specialist Paul Kells and Jan Chappel Senior Technical Specialist from the Canadian Centre of Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS). The agenda has scheduled three different blocks of breakout sessions that will address topics of safety best practices and the ways in which local companies have succeeded in building a strong safety framework within their organizations.

 

Attendees are asked to pre-register for three different breakout sessions. The pre-registration for the breakout sessions can be completed when you go through to purchase your event tickets. There are nine different breakout sessions to choose from and descriptions for each can be found on the Safety First in Cape Breton event page. 

 

The goals of the Safety Symposium are to:

  • Create standards in safety education and best practices that position Cape Breton as the safest and most efficient place to work and do business;
  • Present Cape Breton businesses to safety industry professionals;
  • Establish a stronger working relationship with the Workers’ Compensation Board and provincial health and safety officials;
  • Gain insight on current and future training needs and safety planning needs; 
  • Provide an opportunity for industry leaders to network with Cape Breton organizations to explore future programming and partnerships.
