Cape Breton is home to a variety of farm production activities from beef and dairy farming to honey harvesting and floriculture production. Nova Scotia has nearly 4000 farms and approximately 10,000 jobs are linked to the agriculture and the agri-food and beverage sector. Modern transportation, technology, and infrastructure has changed the production levels and increased the ability to import and export a variety of products across the world. In 2015, Nova Scotia exported farm products to 62 countries.

Cape Breton diverse range of agri-business sector has made strong developments in the last number of years and have strong support from industry organizations and government regulators. Our region provides an excellent field for agriculture investment because it has the ideal mix of agriculture product diversity and quality, advanced sector innovation, and growth capacity.
