BusinessNOW

WHAT IS IT?

An internationally-renowned business retention and expansion program that has proven successful across Canada and around the globe. It engages local business owner/operators and endeavours to encourage the retention and expansion of existing businesses by removing barriers to growth in the region.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

In-depth surveys of existing businesses are carried out by our economic development officers to determine their strengths and weaknesses, and the opportunities and challenges they face. Referrals are then made, connecting businesses with the BusinessNow action team, a network of government and industry representatives, who can help businesses address specific issues. Business owners are also directed to programs and services that may help them moving forward.

Regular analysis of survey responses is carried out, providing insight into systemic barriers to growth, the business climate of a region, and the opportunities that exist going forward.

WHAT DOES IT ACCOMPLISH?

  • Helps existing businesses solve problems, reduce their costs, grow their operations, increase their profits, and create new jobs
  • Demonstrates to local businesses that the community appreciates their contribution to the economy
  • Identifies and addresses issues that face all businesses in the region
  • Develops long-range strategic plans for economic development
